Which religion is older? Judaism, Christianity, Hinduism or Islam? Is there a proof that Islam existed before Muhammad?

Which religion is older? Judaism, Christianity, Hinduism or Islam? Is there a proof that Islam existed before Muhammad?

10:84 And Moses said, "O my people, if you have believed in Allah, then put your trust in Him, if you are Muslims."

("Muslim" is an Arabic word meaning "one who submits (to God)". By definition, the Prophets were Muslims (5:44))(“Islam” is an Arabic word meaning “submission (to God)”; that’s the religion preached by all Messengers. For example, according to Luke 22:42, Jesus said, “yet not my will, but yours be done”. So, Jesus “submitted” to God)(In regard to Judaism, their religion is named after Judah, which is the name of one of Jacob’s twelve sons. Judah was the ancestor of one of the tribes of Israel (tribe of Judah), which was named after him. So, the name was invented, because, at first, the word “Jew” established lineage (tribe of Judah), not religion, but now it is used in regard to religion, whether someone is from the tribe of Judah or from another tribe; but, Judaism differs from the correct religion, so the Messengers were not “Jews” in regard to religion. And the term was innovated long time after the Messengers. See the link below “How the Qur’an corrects Judaism?”)(In regard to Christianity, according to Acts 11:26, the disciples were called “Christians” first in Antioch, so the word “Christian” was innovated because it is not mentioned in any of the four Gospels. Their religion (Christianity) is named after Christ)(So, by definition, “Islam” is older than Judaism and Christianity)(Allah knows best)

3:85 And whoever seeks other than Islam as religion - then never will it be accepted from him, and he, in the Hereafter, will be from the losers.

(Non-Muslims wrongly say that the Messengers were not Muslims because, for them, “Muslims” are those who follow Islam, and, for them, Muhammad was the founder of Islam, but non-Muslims do not pay attention to the meaning of the words “Islam” and “Muslim”, which defines the religion of Adam (the first human) and all the Messengers, because Adam and his wife were commanded not to eat of a tree; so they had to obey / submit (to God); so they had to be “Muslims” (aka be submitted). So, Islam is older than Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, or any other religion)(Another point is that Muhammad did not found any religion, but God revealed to him the religion of Abraham. See the link below “Is Islam a new religion? Does Muhammad differ from other Prophets?”)(Allah knows best)

3:19 Indeed, the religion in the sight of Allah is Islam. And those who were given the Book did not differ except after knowledge had come to them - out of jealous animosity between themselves. And whoever disbelieves in the Verses of Allah, then indeed, Allah is swift in account.

(The religion in the sight of God is Islam (3:19, 3:85). That’s the religion preached by all Messengers, so they were Muslims/submitted (to God), not Jews or Christians (2:140))(In addition, Verse 3:19 says that those who were given the Book (aka “Bible”) differed (from Islam) after knowledge had come (3:19))(Allah knows best)

3:33 Indeed, Allah chose Adam and Noah, and the family of Abraham and the family of Imran over the worlds.

(Since the beginning of time, It is said that Adam was the first Muslim. Because "Muslim" means "one who submits (to God)")(Adam was required to submit to God (aka be a Muslim), because God commanded him not to approach a tree (7:19), but Adam “disobeyed his Lord and erred” (20:121), but, after that, he asked for forgiveness and mercy (7:23), “then his Lord chose him, and turned to him and guided” (20:122), so he ended up being believer / submitted (aka Muslim))(Adam had rules to follow in order to submit (aka be a Muslim), he was forbidden from a tree, etc.; but, today’s ordinances, rites, etc., is the religion of Abraham)(For example, the first House set up for mankind was that at Mecca. It was built by Abraham and Ishmael, and it was the standing place of Abraham. So, upon the people is a pilgrimage to the House, but the House did not exist at the time of Adam. Another example is that Verses 5:27-28 suggest that there was no self-defense at the time of Adam, as there is self-defense in today’s religion (aka the religion of Abraham). This confirms that some rules may differ between former and later people)(Another example, if there were only two humans, it is said that incest might have temporary been allowed (e.g. brother-sister), but incest is clearly forbidden in today’s religion, in the Qur’an (4:23))(Allah knows best)

21:25 And We sent not before you any messenger except that We revealed to him that, "There is no deity except Me, so worship Me."

(All messengers preached to worship God, not the creation (e.g. stones, Jesus, etc.). Christians’ innovation of worshiping Jesus is not accepted. Such belief leads people to Hellfire)(And the Jewish concept “son of God” is not accepted either. According to Verse 9:30, the concept “son of God” is not from God, but from those who disbelieved before)(God is other than His creation, so God does not beget or is begotten, but only creatures/beasts do it, because they were created that way, by God)(Allah knows best)

2:135 And they said, "Be Jews or Christians, then you will be guided." Say, "Nay, the religion of Abraham, the upright; and he was not of those who associated partners." 2:136 Say, "We have believed in Allah and what is revealed to us and what was revealed to Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the descendants, and what was given to Moses and Jesus and what was given to the Prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them. And to Him we are submissive."

(According to Verse 2:135, Jews and Christians are the ones who do not follow the true religion, while Muslims follow an older religion, the religion of Abraham)(And Christians are the ones who oppose the religion, they invent concepts that are not in the Bible. It is said that Paul / Christians invented that Jesus’ sacrifice redeemed people or that Jesus bore people’s sins, while it contradicts the Old Testament (Deuteronomy 24:16, II Kings 14:6, Jeremiah 31:30, Ezekiel 18:20, Psalms 49:7, Numbers 35:33), and contradicts the New Testament (Galatians 6:5), and contradicts the Qur’an (17:15). He also invented that people do not have to follow the Law, while Jesus confirmed it, and early Christians practiced it (e.g. Acts 15:5 and 15:20). It is also said that Paul was trinitarian, the trinitarians are disbelievers (5:72-73, 5:17). Paul persecuted early Christians, who followed the Law, and Paul as a “Christian” kept opposing the religion, by his fabrications. God does not guide the wrongdoing people (46:10))(Allah knows best)

16:123 Then We revealed to you to follow the religion of Abraham, upright; and he was not of those who associate." 16:124 The Sabbath was only appointed for those who differed in it. And indeed, your Lord will surely judge between them on the Day of Resurrection in that over which they used to differ.

(Muslims follow the religion of Abraham, so they leave trade on Friday (62:9). Verses 16:123-124 implicitly say that Friday was also appointed for the Jews, because Verse 16:124 says that the Sabbath was only appointed for those who differed in it. According to the context,it” refers to “following the religion of Abraham” (16:123), so, they differed in/from following the religion of Abraham, then they were burdened with the sabbath)(Allah knows best)

4:160 Then for the wrongdoing of those who were Jews, We made unlawful for them good things which had been lawful for them, and for their hindering many from the way of Allah.

7:157 Those who follow the Messenger, the unlettered Prophet, whom they find written with them in the Torah and the Gospel. He commands them to the right and forbids them from the wrong, and he makes lawful for them the pure things and makes unlawful for them the impure things and he relieves them of their burden and the fetters which were upon them. So those who believe in him, and honor him, and help him and follow the light, which has been sent down with him, those are the successful ones."

(Muhammad relieves people of their burden and fetters. In that sense, the law was more severe for the Jews because of their wrongdoing, for example, it was more severe in the matter of the Sabbath (16:124), so the Qur’an relieves them. So, the Qur’an replaces the Bible. And Islam is older than Judaism. God revealed the religion of Abraham to Muhammad)(According to the Bible (Matthew 15:24) and the Qur’an (3:49), Jesus was only sent to the Children of Israel, and Jesus announced them the coming of Muhammad, in addition, Muhammad was sent to all mankind (34:28), including Jews and Christians. See the link below, “Is Muhammad mentioned in the Bible?”)(Allah knows best)

22:78 And strive for Allah with the striving which is due to Him. He has chosen you and has not placed upon you any difficulty in the religion. The religion of your father Abraham. He named you Muslims before, and in this, that the Messenger may be a witness over you and you may be witnesses over mankind. So establish prayer and give zakah (charity) and hold fast to Allah. He is your Protector - so an Excellent Protector and an Excellent Helper.

(According to the Qur’an, Jews or Christians might differ from the true religion in what they concealed of the Book (6:91, 2:143), and in what they forgot (5:13), and in what they were burdened for their wrongdoing (16:124, 4:160), and in what they invented (57:27), and in following their desires (2:120, 5:48), and in committing excess in their religion (4:171), etc.)(So, they are required to follow the Qur’an)(Allah knows best)

5:110 When Allah said, "O Jesus, son of Mary, remember My Favor upon you and upon your mother when I strengthened you with the Holy Spirit, you spoke to the people in the cradle and in maturity. And when I taught you the Book and the wisdom and the Torah and the Gospel; and when you make from clay like the shape of the bird by My permission, then you breath into it, and it becomes a bird by My permission; and you heal those born blind and the leper by My permission; and when you bring forth the dead by My permission. And when I restrained the Children of Israel from you when you came to them with the clear proofs, then those who disbelieved among them said, "This is not but clear magic." 5:111 And when I inspired to the disciples to believe in Me and in My Messenger they said, "We believe and bear witness that indeed we are Muslims.

(The Qur’an is from God, and the Bible is from God, but there are evidences that the Bible was corrupted by people. See the articles below: “How do you know the Qur'an is the word of God?” and “Is the Bible corrupted?”)(Allah knows best)

5:48 And We have revealed to you the Book in truth, confirming the Book that came before it and as a guardian over it. So judge between them by what Allah has revealed and do not follow their vain desires when the truth has come to you. For each of you We have made a law and a clear way. And if Allah had willed, He would have made you one community [and] but to test you in what He has given you; so race to good. To Allah you will all return, then He will inform you concerning that over which you used to differ.

(Those who deny the Verses of the Qur’an are disbelievers (84:22, 2:91, 52:33-34, 46:10, 10:95-97, 23:38-39, 40:70), so Verse 5:48 is in fact speaking about the same law and way for each person in the world (“kullin” (each) also means “all”); so the Verse is not about “Islam” being a new religion, but, Jews and Christians follow their desires (“do not follow their vain desires when the truth has come to you” (5:48)). So, the Qur’an confirms previous revelations, not their deviations from it. The Qur’an is a Criterion to know what is true (2:185))(Allah knows best)

2:132 And Abraham enjoined upon his sons and Jacob, "O my sons, indeed, Allah has chosen for you the religion, so do not die except while you are submissive." 2:133 Or were you witnesses when death came to Jacob, when he said to his sons, "What will you worship after me?" They said, "We will worship your God and the God of your fathers, Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac – One God. And we are Muslims/submissive to Him."

2:140 Or do you say that Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the descendants were Jews or Christians?" Say, "Are you more knowing or is Allah?" And who is more unjust than one who conceals a testimony he has from Allah? And Allah is not unaware of what you do.

(Jacob and the descendants were not Jews (2:140). The words “Jew / Judaism” refer to religion, in the Qur’an, not lineage (e.g. “Children of Israel” refers to lineage))(Allah knows best)

3:52 Then when Jesus perceived disbelief from them, he said, "Who (will be) my helpers (of) Allah." The disciples said "We (will be the) helpers (of) Allah, we believe in Allah and bear witness that we are Muslims.

(According to Verses 3:52 and 5:110, the early “Christians” declared themselves Muslims/Submitted (to God). Jesus submitted to God too)(Allah knows best)

5:3 Are made unlawful for you the dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which is dedicated to other than Allah, and that which is strangled, and that which is fatally hit, and that which has a fatal fall, and that which is gored by horns, and that which ate the wild animal except what you slaughtered, and that which is sacrificed on stone altars, and that you seek division by divining arrows - that is grave disobedience. This day those who disbelieve have despaired of your religion; so do not fear them, but fear Me. This day I have perfected (akmaltu) your religion for you and I have completed My Favor upon you, and (wa) I have approved for you Islam as a religion. But whoever is forced by hunger with no inclination to sin, then indeed, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

(The context of Verse 5:3 is “food”: it says “This day I have perfected your religion for you and I have completed My Favor upon you, and I have approved for you Islam as a religion”. These sentences might sound as if Islam were a new religion, at the time of Muhammad, but “this day” only refers to “perfected” and “completed”, it does not refer to “Islam”, because the sentence “AND I have approved for you Islam” starts with “and” which implies that it is a new, non-chronological sentence)(One interpretation is that the Qur’an did not add any new matter to the religion of Abraham, but it is all exactly the same. The root of the word “akmal” (perfected) is “Kaf-Miim-Lam”, and it means “complete, in total, in all, perfect achieved. Akmala – perfect / fulfill / complete”. So, “perfected” is in the sense of “completed”, so the religion of Abraham was completely revealed that day)(Another interpretation is that the sentence “this day” could refer to a day, before the Qur’an was revealed to Muhammad. Notice that the food prohibited in the Bible is the same food prohibited in the Qur’an. And the sentence “this day” might be mentioned in a “previous” Book, called the mother of the Book (13:39). It is interpreted that the Qur’an is from that Book. Verse 18:27 says, “recite what has been revealed to you of the Book of your Lord. None can change His Words”. The Mother of the Book does not change over time. In conclusion, the Qur’an might quote or confirm the sentence, referring to a previous day, rather than the day in which the Verse was revealed to Muhammad, because the Bible and the Qur’an do not differ in the matter of food)(Another interpretation, which may be wrong or less likely, is that the revelation was completed by the Qur’an, which would imply that some rule had never been said yet. But this interpretation may be wrong or less likely because the context of the Verse is food; the Bible and the Qur’an say similar or the same in regard to food. And even if some rule had never been said before the Qur’an, it would not change the fact that the Qur’an confirms the Bible, and that all Messengers were required to submit (aka be Muslims). And an objection is that even if Verse 5:3 were to say something that is not found in the Bible, it does not mean that it was never said in the original Torah and Gospel, (or in the mother of the Book (13:39)), because the current Bible is not a reliable source. The Qur’an is of the mother of the Book, which is previous to the Qur’an. The context of Verse 5:3 is “food”, and as far as I know, that which the Bible says, in regard to food, is the same or similar to that which the Qur’an says: Acts 15:29 says, “you are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals”; Acts 15:20 “telling them to abstain from food polluted by idols, … , from the meat of strangled animals and from blood”; Acts 21:25 “they should abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals”; Exodus 34:15 “be careful … they will invite you and you will eat their sacrifices”; Revelation 2:20 “she misleads my servants into … food sacrificed to idols”; Deuteronomy 14:21 “do not eat anything you find already dead”; Leviticus 22:8 “he must not eat anything found dead or torn by wild animals”. And, in regard to pig meat, it is forbidden in Deuteronomy 14:8, Leviticus 11:7-8, Isaiah 66:17, Isaiah 65:2-4, etc)(Allah knows best)

5:5 This day good things are made lawful for you; and the food of those who were given the Book is lawful for you, and your food is lawful for them. And chaste women from the believers and chaste women from those who were given the Book before you, when you have given them their bridal due, being chaste, not being lewd, nor ones (who are) taking secret lovers. And whoever denies the faith - then surely his deeds are wasted and in the Hereafter he will be among the losers.

(In regard to Verse 5:5, it also says “this day”, in regard to food and women, and “good things” are made lawful; but it does not imply that bad things were allowed before that day, but, for example, it could imply that good things had been made unlawful to the Jews before; this is confirmed by Verse 4:160, “Then for the wrongdoing of those who were Jews, We made unlawful for them good things which had been lawful for them”; but the Qur’an is addressed to the whole mankind, including Jews and Christians, so, whoever believes in the Qur’an, it restores them good things they had before (7:160, 10:93))(In regard to women, the Bible supports that you should not marry disbelievers: Deuteronomy 7:3-4 says, “do not intermarry with them. Do not give your daughters to their sons or take their daughters for your sons, for they will turn your children away from following me to serve other gods, and the Lord’s anger will burn against you and will quickly destroy you”)(A disbeliever is not a “good thing”, the Law did not change in that regard. One interpretation is that “this day” might indicate confirmation or restoration of a previous law)(Allah knows best)

25:13 And when they are thrown (into) a narrow place thereof/(therein) bound in chains, they will call (for) destruction there/(thereupon). 25:14 "(Do) not call this day (for) one destruction, but call (for) many destructions."

(Verses 25:13-14 confirm that “this day” is not necessarily the day the Verse of the Qur’an is revealed, but refers to the moment “when they are thrown” (25:13))(Allah knows best)

36:54 So this Day not/(no) [a] soul will be wronged (in) anything, and you will not be recompensed except (for) what you used (to) do. 36:55 Indeed, (the) companions (of) Paradise (on) this/(that) Day [in] will be occupied (in) amusement,

36:59 "But stand apart today, O criminals 36:60 Did I not enjoin upon you, O Children of Adam, that do not worship Satan, indeed, he is for you a clear enemy,

13:39 Allah eliminates and confirms what He wills, and with Him is the Mother of the Book.

(An interpretation of Verses 13:39 and 18:27 is that, whether something is confirmed or eliminated (e.g. the Qur’an relieves Jews from what they were burdened for their wrongdoing (16:124, 4:160)), but the Mother of the Book is not changed. It was revealed “of the Book” to Muhammad, so the Qur’an contains “of the Book” which is not changed over time. On the other hand, Christianity and Judaism differed from the true religion)(Even the Bible, in Revelation 5:1-7, mentions a scroll sealed at the Throne which no one can open or look inside, except somebody. Similarly, the Qur’an says, “Indeed, it is surely a Noble Qur’an, In a Book well-guarded, None touch it except the purified.”(56:77-79))(Allah knows best)

18:27 And recite what has been revealed to you of the Book of your Lord. None can change His Words, and never will you find a refuge besides Him.

56:77 Indeed, it is surely a Noble Qur’an, 56:78 In a Book well-guarded, 56:79 None touch it except the purified. 56:80 A Revelation from the Lord of the worlds.

42:13 He has ordained for you of the religion what He enjoined upon Noah, and that which We have revealed to you, and what We enjoined upon Abraham and Moses and Jesus - to establish the religion and not to be divided therein. Difficult for the polytheists is that to which you call them. Allah chooses for Himself whom He wills, and guides to Himself whoever turns.

(The context of Verse 42:13 is that these Prophets were enjoined “to establish the religion and not to be divided therein”)(Allah knows best)

20:115 And verily We made a covenant with Adam before, but he forgot; and We (did) not find in him determination.

31:21 And when it is said to them, "Follow what Allah (has) revealed," they say, "Nay, we will follow what/(that) on it/(upon which) we found our forefathers." Even if Shaitaan/(Satan) was (to) call/(calls) them to (the) punishment (of) the Blaze

(False innovations that came before you are not accepted)(Allah knows best)

43:3 Indeed, We have made it an Arabic Qur’an so that you may understand. 43:4 And indeed, it (is) in (the) Mother (of) the Book with Us, surely exalted, full of wisdom.

53:56 This (is) a warner from the former [the] warners.

10:71 And recite to them the news of Noah, when he said to his people, "O my people, if my stay and my reminding the Signs of Allah is hard on you, then I put my trust in Allah. So you resolve all your plan and your partners. Then let there not be any doubt in your plan. Then carry (it out) upon me and do not give me respite. 10:72 But if you turn away, then I have not asked you for any reward. My reward is not but on Allah, and I have been commanded to be of the Muslims."
