Who are the companions of the Rass?

Who are the companions of the Rass?

25:38 And Ad and Thamud and (the) dwellers (of) Ar-rass (l-rasi) and many generations between that.

50:12 (The) people (of) Noah denied before them, and (the) companions (of) Ar-Raas and Thamud, 50:13 And Aad and Pharaoh and (the) brothers (of) Lot,

(One theory is that the companions of the Rass, also known as the people of the well or the people of Ar-Rass, were a community in the Azerbaijan region. But some scholars have stated that Rass was the name of a river or the city itself. It is speculated that modern Aras River is ar-Rass)(Another theory is that the Companions of the Rass were an Indus Valley Civilization. With Rass meaning “well” or “along the water channels” or “water tranches”. Means refer to place which has lot of wells (Source: article “Companions of the Rass” in wikipedia). According to the article “Mohenjo-daro” in wikipedia, “Mohenjo-daro is an archaeological site in the province of Sindh, Pakistan. Built around 2500 BCE, it was one of the largest settlements of the ancient Indus Valley Civilization. … With excavations done so far, over 700 wells are present at Mohenjo-daro, alongside drainage and bathing systems. This number is unheard of when compared to other civilizations at the time, such as Egypt or Mesopotamia, and the quantity of wells transcribes as one well for every three houses”. Also in the Indus Valley, it is said that Harappa also had many wells; according to the book “Ancient Pakistan – An Archaeological History: Volume IV: Harappan Civilization” by “Mukhtar Ahmed”, “In Mohenjo-daro, people depended on a large number of wells. In Harappa water was obtained from wells as well as from the nearby river”. The mentioned article, “Companions of the Rass”, also says that some Arabs referred to Indus people as Companions of the Rass)(According to the root dictionary, “rass” means “well”: the root of “rasi” (Ar-rass) is “Ra-Siin-Siin”, and it means “to sink (a well), inquire about (news), scrutinize, conceal, bury, begin. rass – old well, first touch, beginning. al rass – is the name of a country in which a part of the tribe of Thamud resided”)(Allah knows best)
