How many gods are there?

How many gods are there?

40:62 That is Allah (l-lahu), your Lord, Creator of all things, there is no god (ilaha) except Him. So how are you deluded?

2:163 And your God (ilahukum) is one God (ilahun); there is no god (ilaha) except Him, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

10:28 And the Day We will gather them all together, then We will say to those who associate partners, "(Remain in) your place, you and your partners." Then We will separate them, and their partners (will) say, "(It was) not us that you used to worship." 10:29 So Allah is sufficient (as) a witness between you and us that we were certainly unaware of your worship.

(Those who are called “partners” are not gods, but people associated partners. According to Verse 10:29, the partners were unaware of those who worshiped them, because, for example, they could not hear any invocation, nor can respond to them)(The Verse says “your / their partners”, so, the partners are actually partners of those who associate partners, while God is One God (18:110), and He has no partners (17:111))(Allah knows best)

21:7 And We sent not before you except men to whom We revealed. So ask the people of the Reminder if you do not know.

(It is said that “We” is used for respect, and some people say that it is also used for glorification. The plural is used for respect in many languages. In regard to the Bible, it is also used in the Torah (e.g. Genesis 1:26, 11:7), in which, according to Genesis, God says “Us” instead of “Me”)(According to the article “royal we” in wikipedia, in English it is called the “royal we”, or “majestic plural”. In Western usage: “it is commonly employed by a person of high office, such as a monarch, earl, or pope”)(So, “We” in the Qur’an does not imply that there is more than one God, but “We” in the Qur’an is One God)(Allah knows best)

23:14 Then We created the drop into a clinging substance, then We created the clinging substance into an embryonic lump, then We created the embryonic lump into bones, then We clothed the bones with flesh; then We produce it as another creation. So blessed is Allah, the Best of Creators.

(Verse 23:14 does not say “gods”, but says “creators”. Mankind can make things, by God’s permission)(On the other hand, mankind did not make anything unpredictable or unexpected. God gives knowledge (20:114), there are predictions of events that require inventions (55:33, 15:14-15), there are matters in a Register before they are brought into existence (57:22), God is aware of what mankind do (11:123), no one intercede except by God’s permission (2:255), all honor is for Allah (4:139), God knows what will be after them (2:255), they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills (2:255), constructing the ship by God’s inspiration (11:37), God gives understanding and teaches the making of coats of armor (21:79-80), etc.)(Allah knows best)

53:19 So have you seen the Laat and the Uzza, 53:20 And Manaat, the third, the other one? 53:21 Is for you the male and for Him the female? 53:22 This, then, is a division unfair. 53:23 They are not except names which you have named, you and your forefathers, for which Allah has not sent down any authority. They do not follow except assumption and what their souls desire. And certainly the guidance has come to them from their Lord.

(According to Verse 53:23, “Laat”, “Uzza” and Manaat” are names invented by people. So, the Verse does not say that they are deities)(Allah knows best)

3:2 Allah - there is no God except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all that exists. 3:3 He revealed to you the Book in truth which confirms that which was before it and He revealed the Torah and the Gospel.

(Some non-Muslims speak about “Allah” as if He were other than “God” mentioned in the Bible. But “Allah” (the God), and “ilah” (god) in the Qur’an use the same Semitic root than “eloah”, “elah”, “el” and “elohim” in the Bible)(Allah revealed the Torah and the Gospel, so “Allah” is not other than “God” mentioned in the Bible. If the Bible or Christian/Jewish concepts contradict the Qur’an in some matter, it is because the Qur’an does not confirm that which Christians and Jews invented, but only confirms that which is true in the Bible. See the link below “Is the Bible corrupted?”)(Allah knows best)

112:1 Say, "He is Allah, the One. 112:2 Allah, the Eternal, the Absolute. 112:3 He neither begets nor is begotten. 112:4 And nor is there to Him any equivalent."

(The word “Allah” has no gender, nor plural in Arabic)(Allah knows best)
