Will non-Muslims go to hell forever?

6:128 And the Day He will gather them all, "O assembly of jinn, certainly, you have (misled) many of the mankind." And their friends among men will say, "Our Lord, some of us profited by others, and we have reached our term which You appointed for us." He will say, "The Fire is your abode, wherein you will abide forever, except what (ma) Allah wills. Indeed, your Lord is All-Wise, All-Knowing.

11:105 (The) Day (it) comes no soul will speak except by His leave. Then among them (will be the) wretched, and (the) glad. 11:106 As for those who were wretched, then in the Fire. For them therein is sighing, and wailing. 11:107 Abiding therein as long as the heavens and the earth remain, except what your Lord wills. Indeed, your Lord is All-Accomplisher of what He intends. 11:108 And as for those who were glad, then in Paradise, abiding therein as long as the heavens and the earth remain, except what your Lord wills - a bestowal uninterrupted (ghayra majdhudhin).

(One interpretation of these Verses is that the heavens and the earth won’t remain forever, but the earth and heavens are to be replaced by a new creation (14:48))(On one hand, Verse 11:108 confirms that, for those in Paradise, the bestowal is uninterrupted / without interruption (ghayra majdhudhin), which is what God wills. It is interpreted that this world still exist on the Day of Resurrection, and people is to be rewarded or punished until the heavens and the earth do not remain any longer, but in the new creation, people could continue being punished or rewarded in that new creation as well, which is more lasting (20:127))(Another point is that the verbs in Verse 6:128 are translated / interpreted as future tense (“will say / qala” and “will abide / khalidina”), while it can be past / present, and the Verses do not specify that the “Day” is the “Day of Resurrection”, so these Verses could refer to the reward, or punishment in the grave, before the Day of Resurrection, then once the heavens and the earth do not remain any longer, people is resurrected in the new creation, in which the reward and punishment are more lasting)(The root of “majdhudhin” (interrupted) is “Jiim-Thal-Thal”, and it means “to cut or cut off, to cut utterly and quickly, cut into many pieces, exterminate, to break into pieces or fragments, to separate, to hasten to a thing”)(Allah knows best)

80:21 Then He causes him to die and provides a grave for him, 80:22 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him.

(Verse 80:21-22 say, “then He causes him to die and provides a grave for him, then when He wills, He will resurrect him”. So, “what Allah wills” in Verse 6:128 could refer to “when He wills, He will resurrect him” in Verse 80:22. The earth and heavens are to be replaced by a new creation (14:48) on the Day of Resurrection, so as long as the heavens and earth remain, they are in the “Fire” (not Hell yet), but, they are resurrected in a new creation (35:16, 32:10), when God wills, then they are to be punished in a more lasting punishment)(In regard to the grave, in which someone could be punished. It is interpreted that the grave is not physical, because it is provided by God, not by mankind; this is confirmed by Verse 80:21, “Then He causes him to die and provides a grave for him,”)(it is interpreted that after the physical body dies, people are alive in the grave, until they are resurrected; this is confirmed by Verses 40:45-46, which is interpreted as a punishment in the grave; or, for example, in Verses 23:99-100, those who died are speaking to God, before the Day of Resurrection, so they are alive in the graves)(Allah knows best)

4:56 Indeed, those who disbelieved in Our Signs, soon We will burn them in a Fire. Every time their skins are roasted, We will change their skins for other (than) that, so that they may taste the punishment. Indeed, Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise.

35:16 If He wills, He (can) do away with you and bring in a new creation.

32:10 And they say, "Is (it that) when we are lost in the earth, will we certainly be in a new creation?" Nay, they (are) disbelievers in (the) meeting (of) their Lord

30:11 Allah originates the creation, then He repeats it, then to Him you will be returned.

25:65 And those who say, "Our Lord, avert from us the punishment of Hell. Indeed, its punishment is inseparable (gharaman),

(Once someone goes to Hell, the punishment is inseparable, so it is forever. Notice that Verse 25:65 mentions “Hell”, while Verses 6:128 and 11:106 say “Fire” which may refer to the punishment of the grave, before the Day of Resurrection. But, according to the context, “fire” can also refer to Hell)(The root of “gharaman” (inseparable) is “Gh-Ra-Miim”, and it means “paid, to be in debt, gave against will, taking upon oneself that which is not obligatory upon him, lasting evil, shackled or burdened, anguish, etc.”)(Allah knows best)

15:48 No fatigue will touch them therein, and they will not be removed from it.

14:48 On the Day the earth will be changed by another earth, and the heavens, and they will come out before Allah , the One, the Irresistible.

(According to Verse 14:48, the earth and heavens will be replaced by another earth and heavens. So, it is interpreted that Verses 11:107-108 refer to the previous heavens and the earth, which won’t remain forever)(Verse 20:127 confirms that, in the new creation, the punishment is “more lasting” in regard to the one in the previous/current creation, “surely the punishment (of) the Hereafter (is) more severe and more lasting (wa-abqa)”)(The sentence translated or interpreted as “more lasting” does not imply that the new creation will also be destroyed, because, notice that the same word (“more lasting”) is used for God in Verse 20:73, “Allah is Best and Ever Lasting (wa-abqa)”)(Allah knows best)

28:88 And do not invoke with Allah another deity. There is no deity except Him. Everything (will be) destroyed except His Face. His is the judgment, and to Him you will be returned.

40:45 So Allah protected him from the evils they plotted, and the people of Pharaoh were enveloped by the worst punishment, 40:46 The Fire; they are exposed to it morning and evening. And the Day the Hour (will be) established, "Cause the people of Pharaoh enter the severest punishment."

(This Verse could be interpreted as there is also a punishment in the grave, before the Day of Resurrection)(Other Verses also suggest that there is a reward, or a punishment of the fire in this world: 3:169-170, 52:46-47 and 8:50. This world is not forever (28:88); the reward and punishment in this world would be previous to the reward and punishment after resurrection, on the Day of Resurrection)(Allah knows best)

52:46 The Day (when) their plotting will not avail them in anything, nor will they be helped. 52:47 And indeed, for those who do wrong, there is a punishment before that, but most of them do not know.

(According to Verses 52:46-47, there is a punishment before the “Day”)(Allah knows best)

78:20 And the mountains are moved and become a mirage. 78:21 Indeed, Hell is lying in wait, 78:22 For the transgressors, a place of return, 78:23 (They will) be remaining therein for ages (ahqaban).

(Verse 78:23 is in the context of Hell (78:21). The punishment therein is forever, but Verse 78:23 says “for ages”, which seems a temporary punishment. The root of “ahqaban” (ages) is “Ha-Qaf-Ba”, and it means “to be suppressed, unproductive, bear or take a burden upon oneself, to be perverted / marred / disordered / impeded, etc.”. So the use of that word does not imply that the punishment is temporary)(Allah knows best)

27:87 And the Day the trumpet will be blown, and whoever is in the heavens and whoever is in the earth will be terrified except whom Allah wills. And all (will) come to Him humbled. 27:88 And you see the mountains, thinking they are firmly fixed, while they will pass as the passing of the clouds. The Work of Allah Who perfected all things. Indeed, He is All-Aware of what you do.

(On that Day, the earth is still there (27:87-88), but on that Day the earth is to be changed by another earth, and the heavens (14:48))(Allah knows best)

2:166 When those who were followed will disown those who followed (them), and they will see the punishment, [and] the relations will be cut off for them. 2:167 And those who followed said, "If we had a return, then we will disown them as they disown us." Thus Allah will show them their deeds as regrets for them. And they will not come out from the Fire.

(The context of these Verses seems to be on the Day of Resurrection, because Verse 2:167 says “Allah will show them their deeds”, and people know about their record on that Day (17:71, 69:19-25, 83:6-7, 84:7-11, 75:13). Verse 2:167 says that “they will not come out from the Fire”, so it is forever)(Allah knows best)

41:28 That is the recompense of the enemies of Allah - the Fire; therein is for them the home of the eternity as recompense for what they used to, rejecting Our Verses.

3:169 And do not think of those who are killed in the way of Allah as dead. Nay, they are alive; they are given provision near their Lord. 3:170 Rejoicing in what Allah bestowed on them of His Bounty, and they receive good tidings about those who have not yet joined them (but are) left behind - that (there will be) no fear on them, nor will they grieve.

(It is interpreted that some people rejoice, and others are punished in the grave, before the Day of Resurrection)(Verse 3:169 does not mention the word “resurrection”, but they are alive, and they are given provision. According to Verse 75:1-3, the physical body is resurrected on the Day of Resurrection. And in verse 19:17 there is a distinction between the Spirit and human physical body)(Allah knows best)

17:85 And they ask you concerning the soul (l-ruhi). Say, "The soul (l-ruhu) is of the affair of my Lord. And you have not been given of knowledge except a little."

75:1 Nay, I swear by the Day of Resurrection. … 75:3 Does man think that We will not assemble his bones?

16:20 And those whom they invoke besides Allah they create nothing, but are themselves created. 16:21 (They are) dead, not alive. And they do not perceive when they will be resurrected (yub’athuna).

(Verse 16:21 refers to people who are dead, not alive, until the Day of Resurrection. Verse 16:21 mentions the word “resurrected / raised” (yub’athu); that’s the same word used in Verse 22:7 (“yab’athu”); Verse 22:7 clarifies that it is in the context of resurrecting the physical body, because that Verse refers to those who are in the graves. And, according to other Verses, they are alive before the Day of Resurrection, because they are able to speak (23:99-100), or able to perceive pain (40:45-46), but they do not perceive when they will be resurrected (16:21))(Allah knows best)

22:7 And that the Hour will come, there is no doubt about it, and that Allah will resurrect (yab’athu) those who are in the graves.

36:51 And the trumpet will be blown, and behold, from the graves, they will hasten to their Lord. 36:52 They [will] say, "O woe to us! Who has raised us from our sleeping place?" "This is what the Most Gracious (had) promised, and the Messengers told the truth."

(Some people interpret this Verse as there is no a punishment in the grave, but “sleeping” does not imply to be dead in the grave or not to suffer, but the people who sleep are alive. And “sleeping place” does not imply that they are always sleeping. Similarly, Verse 78:6 says, “have We not made the earth a resting place?”, while people is not always resting)(Allah knows best)

23:99 Until when death comes to one of them, he says, "My Lord, send me back 23:100 That I may do righteous (deeds) in what I left behind." No, indeed, it is a word that he speaks, and (wa) before them is a barrier until the Day they are resurrected.

(When death comes, they ask to be sent back, so they are alive because they are speaking)(According to the Verse, the barrier, until the Day they are resurrected, is for the wrongdoers)(Allah knows best)

4:18 And the repentance is not accepted from those who do evil deeds until when death is present to one of them, he says, "Indeed, I repent now;" nor for those who die while they are disbelievers. For them We have prepared a painful punishment.

8:50 And if you (could) see when the Angels take away souls of those who disbelieve, striking their faces and their backs "Taste the punishment of the Blazing Fire."

(This Verse suggest that when the Angels take away souls, the disbelievers taste the punishment of the Blazing Fire. That’s before the Day of Resurrection, and before going to Hell. Notice that Hell is not mentioned)(The temperature at the earth’s centre is around two hundred thousand degrees, that is, two hundred times hotter than fire at the circumference)(Allah knows best)

9:81 Those who remained behind rejoice in their staying behind the Messenger of Allah, and they disliked to strive with their wealth and their lives in the way of Allah and they said, "Do not go forth in the heat." Say, "The Fire of Hell is more intense in heat." If they could understand.

24:25 That Day, Allah will pay them in full their due recompense, and they will know that Allah is the Manifest Truth.

(“In full” could suggest that there were previous partial recompenses)(Allah knows best)

9:101 And among those around you of the bedouins are hypocrites and (also) from the people of the Madinah. They persist in hypocrisy. You do not know them, We know them. We will punish them twice, then they will be returned to a great punishment.

(This Verse confirms that people could be punished twice, before the great punishment)(“Thumma” (then) indicates order)(Allah knows best)

38:16 And they say, "Our Lord, hasten for us our share before (the) Day (of) the Account."

17:98 That is their recompense because they disbelieved in Our Verses and said, "When we are bones and crumbled particles, will we surely be resurrected as a new creation." 17:99 Do they not see that Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth, is Able to create the likes of them? And He has appointed for them a term, no doubt in it. But the wrongdoers refuse except disbelief.

(In order to be punished or rewarded forever, mankind is to be resurrected in a new heavens and earth)(Allah knows best)

29:19 Do not they see how Allah originates the creation then repeats it? Indeed, that is easy for Allah. 29:20 Say, "Travel in the earth and see how He originated the creation, Then Allah will produce the last creation. Indeed, Allah on everything is All-Powerful."

25:68 And those who do not invoke with Allah another god, and do not kill the soul which Allah has forbidden, except by right, and do not commit adultery/fornication. And whoever does that will meet a penalty. 25:69 The punishment will be doubled for him on the Day of Resurrection, and he will abide forever therein humiliated

(This Verse could imply or suggest that he suffered the same punishment before, and it will be doubled on the Day of Resurrection)(This interpretation might be confirmed by Verse 7:38, in which, while entering into the Fire, it is said to them that their punishment (will) be doubled for each of them; Verse 7:38 says, “He (will) say, "Enter into the Fire among nations which passed away before you of jinn and men."..."Our Lord, these misled us, so give them double punishment of the Fire." He (will) say, "For each is a double, but you do not know.")(Allah knows best)

40:11 They will say, "Our Lord, You gave us death twice and You gave us life twice, and we confess our sins. So is there any way to get out?"

(Death and life are twice for everybody. A person was dead (non-existent), then alive (in this world), then the person dies (in this world), then is resurrected (on the Day of Resurrection))(Allah knows best)

95:5 Then We returned him to the lowest of the low, 95:6 Except those who believe and do righteous deeds, then for them is a never-ending reward.

5:37 They will wish that they come out of the Fire but they will not come out of it. And for them (is) a lasting punishment.

35:29 Indeed, those who recite (the) Book (of) Allah, and establish the prayer and spend out of what We have provided them, secretly and openly, hope (for) a commerce - it will never perish.

9:113 (It) is not for the Prophet and those who believe that they ask forgiveness for the polytheists, even though they were near of kin, after (what) has become clear to them that they are the companions of the Hellfire.

(According to Verse 9:113, it is known or evident who are the companions of the Hellfire, before the Day of Resurrection. It implies that they could be punished before the Day of Judgment)(Allah knows best)

21:104 The Day when We will fold the heaven like the folding of a scroll for records. As We began the first creation, We will repeat it, a promise upon Us. Indeed, We are (the) Doers.

26:90 And the Paradise (will be) brought near for the righteous.

102:1 The competition in increase diverts you 102:2 Until you visit the graves. 102:3 Nay, soon you will know. 102:4 Then (thumma), nay, soon you will know. 102:5 Nay, if you knew with a knowledge of certainty. 102:6 Surely you will see the Hellfire. 102:7 Then (thumma) surely you will see it with the eye of certainty. 102:8 Then (thumma), that Day surely you will be asked about the pleasures.

(These Verses could confirm that there is a punishment in the grave (Hellfire), which occurs soon (e.g. in this world))(After mentioning the graves (102:2), and after mentioning “soon you will know” (102:3), then Verse 102:4 says “then (thumma), nay, soon you will know”. “Thumma” (then) in Arabic indicates order, as if they were to “know” it twice (e.g. “you will know, then you will know”); and again, in Verse 102:6, it says “surely you will see the Hellfire”, then Verse 102:7 says “then (thumma) surely you will see...”, as if they were to “see” it twice (e.g. “you will see, then you will see”). And Verse 102:8 confirms that what is said after “thumma” (then) refers to “that Day”, while the “first” punishment begins in this world)(Allah knows best)

32:21 And surely, We will let them taste the nearer punishment before the greater punishment, so that they may return.

(In the case of Verse 32:21, it refers to a punishment before they die)(Whether in the grave, or resurrected, the punishment in the Hereafter is greater than the punishment before they die)(Allah knows best)

21:34 And We did not make for any man before you immortality; so if you die, then (would) they live forever?

(The Verse implies that there was no immortality before him, in this world, so there is no immortality after him either, in this world. In other words, all humans are to die in this world, so “if they die” (21:34), then they do not “live forever” (21:34) in this world. On the other hand, humans are to live forever in the Hereafter)(Allah knows best)

2:243 Did you not see those who went out from their homes and they (were in) thousands fearing death? Then Allah said to them, "Die;" then He restored them to life (ahyahum). Indeed, Allah is surely Possessor of bounty for mankind, but most of the people are not grateful.

(According to Verse 5:110, Allah said to Jesus, “when you bring forth (tukh’riju) the dead by My permission”, and Verse 2:243 says “Then Allah said to them, "Die;" then He restored them to life (ahyahum)”. So, according to these Verses, anyone can be “back to life” at any time (When God wills; by God’s permission). On the other hand, Verse 80:22 says, “Then when He wills, He will resurrect him (ansharahu)”. These Verses do not contradict themselves anyhow because they use different verbs (“yab’athu” (22:7) / “tukh’riju” (5:110) / “ahya” (2:243)), so the physical body was not destroyed in Verses 5:110 and 2:243, while Verse 22:7 refers to making the physical body again (aka “raising / resurrecting”, not just “coming alive”). In conclusion, those who are alive again, before the Day of Resurrection, they were not “resurrected”, before the Day of Resurrection, because their body was not bones or particles yet, so there was no resurrection before the Day of Resurrection, because the Verse uses a different verb, which does not imply making the physical body again, but, in the case of Verse 2:243, they were “revived”)(See the link below “When do people come back to life?”)(Allah knows best)

60:13 O you who believe, do not make allies of a people upon whom is Allah's Wrath. Indeed, they despair of the Hereafter as the disbelievers despair of the companions of the graves.

37:55 Then he (will) look and see him in (the) midst (of) the Hellfire. 37:56 He (will) say, "By Allah, verily, you almost ruined me. 37:57 And if not (for the) Grace (of) my Lord, I (would) certainly have been among those brought. 37:58 Then, are we not to die, 37:59 Except for our first death, and we will not be punished?" 37:60 Indeed, this is surely the great attainment. 37:61 For the like of this, let the workers work.

(According to the context, the sentences, “are we not to die, except for our first death, and we will not be punished?” (37:58-59), are said by the one or ones who were saved from Hellfire, so after their “first death” (37:59) in this world, they are not to die (37:58) anymore (in Paradise), not be punished. “This is surely the great attainment. For the like of this, let the workers work” (37:60-61))(Allah knows best)

25:15 Say, "Is that better or Garden of Eternity, which is promised to the righteous? It will be for them a reward and destination. 25:16 For them therein (is) whatever they wish, they will abide forever. It is a promise on your Lord requested."

36:63 This (is) (the) Hell which you were promised. 36:64 Burn therein today (l-yawma) because you used to disbelieve."

(The Verses of the Qur’an are not mutually exclusive. Burning today (36:64) does not contradict entering the gates of Hell to abide forever in it (40:76))(“Today” might refer to the Day of Judgment)(Allah knows best)

82:14 And indeed, the wicked (will be) surely in Hellfire. 82:15 They will burn (in) it (on the) Day (of) [the] Judgment,

89:25 So that Day not/(none) will punish anyone (as) His punishment.

57:1 Whatever (is) in the heavens and the earth glorify Allah, and He (is) the All-Mighty, the All-Wise. 57:2 To Him (is the) dominion of the heavens and the earth, He gives life and causes death, and He is All-Powerful over all things. 57:3 He is the First and the Last, the Apparent and the Unapparent, and He is, of all things, Knowing.

(The sentence “He is the First and the Last” may imply that God was before His creation, and also after His creation, because everything will be destroyed (28:88) in this world, before the Day of Resurrection. According to the context, Verse 57:2 says, “He gives life and causes death”, so He is First and Last. And the context is that “To Him dominion of the heavens and the earth”, so it is interpreted that He is the First and the Last, for mankind, in this world, then, in the new creation (50:15), people are to abide eternally in Paradise or Hell (39:72-73))(Allah knows best)

39:40 (Upon) whom will come a punishment disgracing him and on him/(whom) descends an everlasting punishment."

41:8 Indeed, those who believe and do righteous deeds, for them (is) a never-ending reward.
