Self defense or turn the other cheek?

Self defense or turn the other cheek?

5:27 And recite to them the story of the two sons of Adam in truth, when they both offered a sacrifice, and it was accepted from one of them and was not accepted from the other. Said (the latter), "Surely I will kill you." Said (the former), "Allah only accepts from the God fearing. 5:28 If you stretch your hand towards me to kill me, I will not stretch my hand towards you to kill you, indeed, I fear Allah, the Lord of the worlds." … 5:32 From that time, We ordained on the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul other than for a soul or for spreading corruption in the earth, then it is as if he has killed the whole mankind, and whoever saves it then it is as if he has saved the whole mankind. And surely Our Messengers came to them with clear Signs, yet after that, indeed, many of them surely commit excesses in the earth.

(Verses 5:27-28 suggest that there was no self-defense at the time of Adam, as there is self-defense in today’s religion (according to the Qur’an, violence is only allowed in self-defense and against oppression), but, in fact, Verse 5:32 suggests that right after the event of the two sons of Adam, self-defense was allowed (“a soul for a soul” (self-defense)), and for spreading corruption (e.g. oppressing). So, there is self-defense from the time of Adam)(Muslims are commanded to follow the religion of Abraham in which Muslims can defend themselves, regardless of there was a previous rule or no rule before the event of the two sons of Adam)(Allah knows best)

16:123 Then We revealed to you to follow the religion of Abraham, upright; and he was not of those who associate."

5:45 And We ordained for them therein that - a life for a life, and an eye for an eye, and a nose for a nose, and an ear for an ear, and a tooth for a tooth, and for the wounds is a retribution. But whoever gives it (up as) charity, then it is an expiation for him. And whoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed, then those are the wrongdoers.

6:151 Say, "Come, I will recite what your Lord has prohibited to you. That do not associate anything with Him, and be good to parents, and do not kill your children (out) of poverty, We provide for you and for them. And do not go near immoralities what is apparent of them and what is concealed. And do not kill the soul, which Allah has forbidden except by right. That (He) has enjoined on you with it, so that you may use reason."

9:13 Will you not fight a people who broke their oaths and determined to drive out the Messenger and they began (to attack) you the first time? Do you fear them? But Allah has more right that you should fear Him, if you are believers.

(Self-defense)(Allah knows best)

16:126 And if you retaliate, then retaliate with the like of that with which you were afflicted. But if you are patient, it is surely better for those who are patient.

(Self-defense)(Allah knows best)

42:39 And those who, when tyranny strikes them, they defend themselves. 42:40 The recompense for an evil is an evil like it. But whoever pardons and makes reconciliation, then his reward is on Allah. Indeed, He does not like the wrongdoers. 42:41 And surely whosoever defends himself after he has been wronged, then those do not (have) against them any way. 42:42 The way is only against those who oppress people and rebel in the earth without right. Those, for them (is) a painful punishment. 42:43 And (wa) whoever (is) patient and forgives, indeed, that (is) surely of matters of determination.

(These Verses might be explained by Verse 49:9, in which you make peace between two parties of the believers, but you have to fight the oppressor until it returns to the command of Allah (49:9) (until he does not oppress, because oppression is forbidden))(“And” (wa) in Verse 42:43 indicates a new sentence)(The Verse might also be explained by Verses 2:190-2:193. If they cease, you have to cease too)(Allah knows best)

49:9 And if two parties among the believers fight, then make peace between both of them. But if one of them oppresses the other, then fight against the one that oppresses until it returns to the command of Allah. Then if it returns, then make peace between them with justice, and act justly. Indeed, Allah loves those who act justly.

2:190 And fight in the way of Allah those who fight you, and do not transgress. Indeed, Allah does not like the transgressors. 2:191 And kill them wherever you find them, and drive them out from wherever they drove you out, and oppression is worse than killing. And do not fight them near Al-Masjid Al-Haraam until they fight you there. Then if they fight you, then kill them. Such is the reward of the disbelievers. 2:192 Then if they cease, then indeed, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. 2:193 And fight against them until there is no oppression, and the religion becomes for Allah Then if they cease, then let there be no hostility except against the oppressors.

(Self-defense)(The Verse is in the context of Muslims being oppressed, and self-defense, because the Verse explicitly says “until there is no oppression” and “if they cease”)(Allah knows best)

4:90 Except those who join a group between whom and you there is a treaty or those who come to you with hearts restraining them from fighting you or fighting their people. And if Allah had willed, surely He would have given them power over you, and they would surely have fought you. So if they withdraw from you and do not fight against you and offer you peace, then Allah has not made for you a way against them.

4:91 You will find others wishing to be secure from you and to be secure from their people. Every time they are returned to the temptation, they are plunged into it. So if they do not withdraw from you and offer you peace and they restrain their hands, then seize them and kill them wherever you find them. And those - We made for you against them a clear authority.

(Self-defense)(Allah knows best)

26:227 Except those who believe and do righteous deeds and remember Allah much, and defend themselves after they were wronged. And those who have wronged will come to know to what return they will return.

60:8 Allah does not forbid you from those who do not fight you in the religion and do not drive you out of your homes, that you deal kindly and justly with them. Indeed, Allah loves those who act justly.

3:134 Those who spend in ease and hardship and those who restrain the anger and those who pardon people - and Allah loves the good-doers.

(Verse 3:134 is in the context of peace, rather than war, so in a case in which no one tries to kill you)(Allah knows best)

8:61 And if they incline to peace, then you incline to it, and put trust in Allah. Indeed, He is All-Hearer, All-Knower.

(Self-defense)(Allah knows best)

2:75 Do you hope that they will believe you while indeed a party of them (used to) hear the words of Allah, then they distort it after they understood it, while they know?

(In regard to Christianity, it is said that Matthew 5:38-44 abrogates the sentence “eye for eye, and tooth for tooth” and so. It has to be considered that Jesus did not write the Gospel, but is anonymous, and was written in Greek, instead of Aramaic (the language of Jesus), so it is not a reliable source. Matthew 5:38-44 contradicts other verses in which it seems that there is no such abrogation: according to Matthew 10:34, Jesus said “do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword”; according to Luke 22:36, Jesus said “And if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one”; according to Luke 14:26, Jesus said “If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple”; according to Luke 19:27, Jesus told a violent parable “but those enemies of mine who did not want me to be king over them—bring them here and kill them in front of me”)(Another example of inconsistency is that Matthew 5:22 says, “anyone who says, “you fool!” will be in danger of the fire of hell”, while Jesus call people “fools” in Matthew 23:17, “you blind fools!”)(See also the link below “Jesus the Messiah” vs. “Jesus Barabbas”)(Allah knows best)

3:78 And indeed, among them is surely a group - they distort their tongues in the Book so that you may think it is from the Book, but it is not from the Book. And they say, "This is from Allah." but it is not from Allah. And they say the lie about Allah while they know.

(In regard to Judaism, people should be concerned that there is killing of innocents in Judaism, which is in a context other than self-defense: Ezekiel 9:5 says, “As I listened, he said to the others, “Follow him through the city and kill, without showing pity or compassion. Slaughter the old men, the young men and women, the mothers and children, but do not touch anyone who has the mark. Begin at my sanctuary.” So they began with the old men who were in front of the temple. Then he said to them, “Defile the temple and fill the courts with the slain. Go!” So they went out and began killing throughout the city”. And there is also no self-defense in Deuteronomy 21:18-21 and Numbers 31:17-18)(It is said that the Torah had multiple authors and that its composition took place over centuries; and the Talmud (aka Rabbis’ conjectures on the Torah) says that Moses wrote the Torah, but Deuteronomy mentions Moses’ death and burial, so it suggest that he did not write it; so, it is not a reliable source)(See the link below “Is the Bible corrupted?”)(Allah knows best)
