Humans transformed into apes? Does the Qur’an say Jews are “apes and pigs”?

Humans transformed into apes? Does the Qur’an say Jews are “apes and pigs”?

2:65 And indeed, you knew those among you who transgressed in the (matter of) Sabbath. So We said to them, "Be apes, despised." 2:66 So We made it a deterrent punishment for those in front of them and those after them and an admonition for those who fear.

(The Verse says, “those among you who transgressed in the Sabbath”, that’s not all Jews)(One interpretation is that their behavior was compared to animals (see comments below), then the comparison can be applied to any person at any time)(Allah knows best)

62:5 The likeness of those who were entrusted with the Torah then they did not bore it, is like the donkey who carries books. Wretched is the example of the people who deny the Signs of Allah. And Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.

(Men is compared to animals in having no understanding (7:179), in disobeying laws (2:65, 7:166), in denying Signs (7:176), …)(Men is compared to animals because if men is entrusted with the Scripture, but they do not follow it, they would be like an animal having a book (62:5). The animal is not able to read or understand it, then would not follow it, just as the man who does not follow it)(Allah knows best)

5:60 Say, "Shall I inform you of (something) worse than that as recompense from Allah? Those whom Allah has cursed and He became angry with him, and made of them apes and swines, and (those who) worshiped the false deities. Those are worse in position and farthest astray from the even way."

(“Apes and swines” / “cattle” refer to being astray (5:60, 7:179))(Allah knows best)

7:179 And certainly We have created many jinn and men for Hell. They have hearts with which they do not understand, and they have eyes with which they do not see, and they have ears with which they do not hear. Those are like cattle, nay, they are more astray. Those - they are the heedless.

(An interpretation of Verses 7:179 and 25:44 is that those men are “like cattle”, but the cattle are not required / cannot follow a Scripture, while mankind is required, so those men are “more astray from the way”, while cattle at least have an excuse)(So, the disbelievers are compared or comparable to cattle, but from that other perspective or view, in fact, they are worse)(Allah knows best)

25:43 Have you seen the one who takes as his god his own desire? Then would you be a guardian over him? 25:44 Or do you think that most of them hear or understand? They are not except like cattle. Nay, they are more astray from the way.

7:176 And if We willed, surely We could have raised him with these but he adhered to the earth and followed his desires. So his example is like the example of the dog, if you attack him, he lolls out his tongue or if you leave him, he lolls out his tongue. That is the example of the people who denied Our Signs. So relate the story so that they may reflect.

7:163 And ask them about the town which was situated by the sea, when they transgressed in the (matter of) Sabbath, when their fish came to them visibly on the day of their Sabbath and the day they had no Sabbath (they did) not come to them. Thus We test them because they were defiantly disobeying. 7:164 And when a community among them said, "Why do you preach a people whom Allah is going to destroy them or punish them with a severe punishment?" They said, "To be absolved before your Lord and that they may become righteous." 7:165 So when they forgot what they had been reminded with, We saved those who forbade evil, and We seized those who wronged with a wretched punishment, because they were defiantly disobeying. 7:166 So when they exceeded all bounds about what they were forbidden from it, We said to them, "Be apes, despised."

(The Jews who forbade evil were saved (7:165), so not all Jews were apes, but a group of them)(Allah knows best)

4:47 O you who (have) been given the Book, believe in what We (have) revealed confirming what is with you, before We efface faces and turn them on their backs or We curse them as We cursed companions of the Sabbath. And the command of Allah is executed.

(Another interpretation is that it could have been a physical transformation of a group of people at the time of Moses. Though God is Able to transform them (76:28), but that interpretation could be wrong or less likely. According to Verse 4:47, they were cursed; those who are cursed can be forgiven (2:160), if they repent and reform before they die (2:161). So, they are still humans, in order to repent)(Allah knows best)

2:159 Indeed, those who conceal the clear proofs We revealed, and the Guidance, after We made it clear for the people in the Book – they are cursed by Allah and cursed by those who curse. 2:160 Except those who repent and reform (themselves) and openly declare. Then from those, I will accept repentance, and I (am) the Acceptor of Repentance, the Most Merciful. 2:161 Indeed, those who disbelieve and die while they (were) disbelievers, upon them is the curse of Allah, and the Angels, and the mankind, all together. 2:162 (They will) abide in it forever. The punishment will not be lightened for them, nor will they be reprieved.
